Linda Mehoke

Dr. Linda Mehoke is the founder and managing partner of Fredonia Vet Clinic. She grew up on a farm and recalls that almost everything her family did revolve around the animals.

'It was all about the animals. They were our friends, playmates, and the reason for the chores. They taught us life lessons. You could see the personality in each and every one of them, just like people.'

Dr. Mehoke attended Ripon College where she obtained Bachelor's degrees in Chemistry and Biology. She attended veterinary school at the University of Minnesota. When she graduated with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, she wanted to work with all types of animals, large and small, in a time when it was not easy for a woman to land a job working with large animals. She founded the Fredonia Veterinary Clinic as a solo practitioner working out of her home and the back of her station wagon.

Today, the clinic has grown from those roots to a 7-doctor AAHA accredited mixed animal clinic. Dr. Mehoke's role has changed over the years. As the business has grown, so has the amount of time she must spend on business matters. Her clinical duties have transitioned from mixed animal practitioner to wildlife rehabilitation and now to the small animal dentistry portion of the practice. The team at FVC is eternally grateful for the opportunity to practice veterinary medicine with an amazing group of clients, some of whom have been with Fredonia Vet Clinic since 1982.

'We will strive, always, to do the best we can with what we have to work with. To do the right thing. To not accept mediocrity. Being involved since the start, I feel a special responsibility for the path of Fredonia Vet Clinic. FVC has come a long way since its inception and we aren’t done yet.”

When she's not at work, Dr. Mehoke enjoys long-distance trail running and growing native trees, wildflowers, and grasses.
